Banana and Date Smoothie

One of the first items I carried over to my new apartment last week was my Magic Bullet Blender. I’ll admit, I’m not sure why I did that, since I use it a lot and hadn’t actually brought any food with me to the new place, but there it was, sitting on an empty counter, waiting to be plugged in after an exhausting day of moving boxes.

So, I decided to buy ingredients to a smoothie I’d never made before: a banana and date smoothie, something I tried for the first time this past Mother’s Day at True Food Kitchen Chicago and fell in love with. It was filling and sweet and disappeared pretty quickly at the table, especially once I passed it around for the rest of my family to try (they loved it, too).

My version was a simplified smoothie with only three ingredients, but it tasted just as great in my opinion.

Banana and Date Smoothie

  • 1 banana sliced
  • 5 dates pitted
  • 1 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 1 handful ice can be replaced with frozen banana chunks


  1. Pour ingredients into blender. Blend together and serve right away.
