View MKE is expected to open Monday, June 25th at the top of Historic Brewer’s Hill, in the former home of Wolf Peach.
The restaurant’s name gives nod not only to its fantastic view of downtown Milwaukee, but also to the chef’s goal of highlighting local and global cuisines through sharable plates.
“I think once you come to this location and stand on our deck and look at this view out here, you realize that this is the best view of Milwaukee,” co-owner Carl Tomich tells me. “I lived down here out of college, met my wife [co-owner Kim Tomich] down here, got married at St. John’s Cathedral… and we just feel like we’re foodies and we wanted to offer something that we thought that the Historic Brewer’s Hill and Milwaukeeans would enjoy, with different flavors that we thought people are looking for.”
The menu includes six thin crust Milwaukee-style pizzas ($14-$15), cheese and charcuterie boards galore ($19-22), crispy pork belly ($14), charred octopus ($22) and date-glazed beets ($10). On the beverage side, View MKE will offer beer from Wisconsin craft breweries, in addition to a large selection of champagne.

Tomich sums up the goal of View MKE:
“Our idea here was if you bring someone from outside of the city to Milwaukee, first-time to Milwaukee, what better place could we design than to bring your guest to a place like this with this view to showcase our city, foods and cuisines?”
